Rosalia
Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Born and raised in the outskirts of Barcelona her music has been described as an "atypical pop singer" due to her diverse music styles. [9] She was captivated by Spanish folk music when she was just 13 years old. She studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music and also performed at weddings. It reimagined flamenco, mixing it with pop and hip-hop music. The two singles "Malamente", and "Pienso En Tu Mira" were a hit among the Spanish populace and won all-encompassing critical acclaim. Recognized as the winner of the Latin Grammy Award for Album of the Year, and included in Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, El Mal Querer started the rise of Rosalia into the world music scene. [12][1313 Rosalia was a pioneer of urbano music through her albums of 2019 "Con Altura" and "Yo x Ti, Tu x Mi", achieving global success. She gave reggaeton an experimental approach to her third album Motomami (2022) and departed from the new flamenco style of the album that preceded it. The album's two singles "La Fama", and "Saoko", caught the attention of international audiences and were the most praised album on Metacritic. Through her career, Rosalia has accumulated ten top singles in her native country, which is the highest for a local artist. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year wins), four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been presented to Rosalia. She also received two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing the music scene of today with her flamenco-influenced pop"[18[18]. She was also the first Spanish-singing artist to be nominated for the Grammys for Best New Artist.
Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. [23] She has an older sister, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989) who is working with Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia was interested in performing arts from the age of five. She began her studies at the Raval school, and then transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. The singer also performed in a private capacity as a performer at weddings, bars for music and other functions. She was paid "a little over 80 euro or in exchange for a meal".
