Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarships for his parents and a commitment to the community. His family's first name is Selmon is the eldest of nine kids who were raised in Eufala by Lucious Selmon. Two football. He is one of three brothers who participated in the football team of Oklahoma. The three brothers all made All-America. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in nation by the Outland and Lombardi Awards. For three seasons as the team's starter, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and won two national championships. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third year in the year 1975. Selmon obtained his degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week during his time at college. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing for the Buccaneers. Three times, he was named All-Pro. Then he began his business career. In 1988, while working as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa He was a member of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's 10 outstanding young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs when he was a student athlete. He was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he was named associate director of the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded their Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
